What happens when you are a single mother and your coconut shower gel gives you a bladder infection? If you go to Penrith Hospital the nurse practitioner Linda Bell misdiagnoses you, harasses you, and refuses to let you see a doctor. Then Cumbria Constabulary refuses to file assault charges, and instead of listening to you the police throw you on the ground, forcibly remove your child from your arms, handcuff you, give you cuts and bruises, PAVA spray you in the eye, make you walk without shoes in front of all of your neighbours, detain you, record a video of your home, expose your toddler to PAVA spray resulting in the police taking him to A&E, then they put your child in foster care, and refuse to let you speak to your parents for seven hours. Then the police, the CEO of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Information Commissioner all refuse to provide you with the CCTV footage of Linda Bell standing over you with her hands on her hips, interrupting your phone call to the Patient Experience Team, and bending down and touching your leg in the waiting room. Fortunately I do have evidence of how rude the staff were to me while I was on the phone complaining to the Care Quality Commission, including evidence of a receptionist refusing to give me the name of the nurse who examined me until I refused to hang up without a name. I came in for a UTI and as a result of complaint about a staff member who gave me an unnecessary rectal examination, refused to treat my infection with antibiotics, and touched my leg in the waiting room I was separated from my only child. According to records from my GP Linda Bell also reported me to the Local Childrens Safeguarding Board for being aggressive in front of my child. Disagreeing with a misdiagnosis and asking to see a doctor is not being aggressive. Walking away with an untreated infection that could lead to kidney failure is not good parenting. My medical records also say that last year when I came in with a UTI (because my GP refused to give me an appointment) the out of hours doctor Catherine Moran officially diagnosed me with struggling with childcare. Struggling with childcare is not a medical condition! I tried suing the out of hours doctor last year but it is very difficult to file a discrimination suit as a single parent since 95% of us are women so that leaves only 5% of the population to use as a comparison. So if there are any single fathers out there who have been to Penrith Hospital with their children please get in touch! I would love to know if the doctors and nurses at Penrith Hospital asked you questions about your children and your romantic relationships instead of discussing your symptoms. Especially if you came in with an infection and the doctors and nurses actually spoke to you about bacteria or your infected organ instead of asking you questions about your private family life. Men, have any of you come into Penrith Hospital because you were in pain and been told by a doctor - someone who spent five years at medical school - that the reason you were in pain was because you were struggling to care for your child? (Scott Scott: I lived without the NHS in the USA for 13 years. I had private health insurance paid for by my father's employer and later by the law firm I worked for. A complaint about Penrith Hospital is not a complaint about the entire NHS.)
The team there is doing a great job. If you are very ill, you may be referred to Carlisle Hospital.

Sorted out the issue so job doneOnly 4 stars because :-Waiting timeReceptionist booking me in...the phone went and dropped me to answer it without a word.Triage Nurse making initial contact was talking to her computer monitor whilst asking me questions...never looked my way Eventually saw the Nurse on duty...who was canny enough but again was concentrating on the computer screen whilst asking me about medical history.Do they know they are doing it ?Very off putting!!!
