Nice refurbishment Great staff. Definitely couldn't go there to get food because you never know when the kitchen is open. Apparently random opening hours.

Let's be fair, someone is padding these ratings and we CAN'T leave it at a 5. When we arrived Emma gave us the room on the end. Shower door would not stay shut, virtually no internet from the router in the bar and worst, the lock on the door really didn't lock, all that was necessary was to push the door and it would open.Emma graciously gave us another room. There the shower doors didn't come together so when you showered water ran all over the bathroom floor. It was very tight for two people, no really space for any cloths. The beds were ok, but a little creeky. The window, which we needed open, was right beside the vent for something that seemed to stay on all the time. Even though they mention a kitchen, it wasn't open anytime during the two days we spent there.We have been traveling around the UK (Ireland, Scotland and England) for three weeks. This hotel was the worst one we stayed in during our time.Emma was the one true thing that makes this work, for the Castlegate Arms. Credit too her! The bar was fun, the location was great and the town of Penrith is a neat place to be.

Stayed here for four days while working...staff are fantastic rooms are very good with everything needed would recommend the lasagne or burger for food as they were both perfect ...would definitely be returning again ...massive well done to all the staff for all they have done for us
