MOT fail headlight beam shape and degraded brake line. Quoted me 300 for new headlights. Turned out the electrical contact to the bulb was a little loose, which I fixed myself in literally 30 seconds by squeezing it a bit with long nose pliars (there were no further issues with the headlight for the following 10 months at which point I sold the car). Had already agreed for them to do the brake line. This took them an entire day and ended with me being charged an extra 60 on what I was quoted (they didn't check with me on this, it just appreared on my bill), and my brakes being very significantly less powerful than when I took it in. Overall they quoted me hundreds of pounds over the odds, charged me 60 more than I agreed to, and gave my car back quite a bit worse than it went in. Admittedly this was an old car and apparently there was an issue with a bleed nipple, but the fact that they'd happily charge 300 for a fault that can be properly fixed with pliars, and charged an extra 60 without asking, is for me very worrying, and worthy of 1 star even if we disregard the strange way they dealt with my brakes.In reply to 'Response from the owner' yes this is definitely the right garage. It was a Volvo and the work was done towards the end of 2017, November I think but I'll have to check.
AB just serviced my car, did my MOT and fitted a new timing belt. It didn't take very long, I was charged a competitive price and Anne Marie was professional, friendly and very helpful. Overall very pleased and would recommend. Will be using them again next year.
