Friendly family run campsite and small farm. I had two quiet night's sleep overlooking Ullswater lake. Peaceful and beautiful.
Fair prices for a good view of the lake. The site itself is effectively a field with a toilet block and a small kids play area. Still had space when the others were full. Overall good experience but not as established and provisioned as others.
Very rude and bad mannered staff, did not help out in any way, demanded that we left 120 pound deposit for "noise complaints" then after driving 10 miles to a bank machine demanded another 60 pound for the tents which they did not tell us anything about before going to the bank. Then proceeded to swear at us and phone the police for no reason. Very rude and definitely would not recommend to anyone.
We go here every year. Nice great site just few hundred metres from the lake with access to the lake also available for the people wanting to take small boats/kayaks onto the lake.The on site facilities are also great. Many toilets enough to hand the busy weekends. On site showers also available. And a wash basin for the dishes if needed.
I stayed here with my great grandaugher who is 5. She enjoyed the playground, we had to go and see the cows in the barn and the alpacas every day. Toilets and shower very clean. Great place to go walking from. We had a lovely view over the lake. The only down side was no where to put towels and clothes when using the showers.
